*Breeders are working in labs and fields everyday while people are every day more and more far from these activities. I find very important to explain to people the basis of rice breeding and the reason why researchers are improving crops since the old ages.

Cosa sono gli OGM? Perché non coltiviamo solo le varietà antiche? Come nasce una varietà? Cos'è il genome editing? Dove nascono le varietà che mangiamo?
Sono solo alcune delle domande che vengono fatte quando si parla di miglioramento genetico. Spesso l'attività di ricerca e sperimentazione è appannaggio di ricercatori schivi che operano in laboratori considerati irraggiungibili. E' ora di cambiare l'approccio. These are only few of the questions that people ask when speaking about plant breeding. Too often research and experiments are totally not known to people outside the labs. It is time to change this approach. IRES is organizing guided tour to the field, using simple language, easy to understand to everybody and answering to all the questions in comprehensible way.
